Vanity URLs

Setting a custom URL slug for a bot, server, or team listing.

Every bot, server, and team gets a vanity code, a short slug used in its listing URL. Bots get one automatically when submitted (derived from the bot's Discord name), but it can be changed at any time.

Setting a vanity

PATCH /{target_type}/{target_id}/vanity

target_type is bot, server, or team. Requires the set_vanity permission on that entity, see Teams & Permissions.

{
  "code": "my-cool-bot"
}

The code is normalized before it's saved:

  • Non-ASCII characters are stripped.
  • It's lowercased, and spaces become dashes.
  • A trailing dash is removed.
  • It can't contain @, and can't already be taken by something else.

If the entity doesn't have a vanity yet, this creates one; if it already has one, this replaces it. Sending back the same code you already have just fails with "already taken", there's no no-op case.

Looking one up

GET /vanity/{code}

Resolves a vanity code to the entity it points at:

{
  "itag": "...",
  "target_id": "1234567890",
  "target_type": "bot",
  "code": "my-cool-bot",
  "created_at": "2026-01-01T00:00:00Z"
}

This is a public, unauthenticated endpoint, it's what the frontend uses to resolve omniplex.gg/my-cool-bot to the right listing page.
